Lewis Levine A police pursuit Tuesday morning which ended in a wreck has taken another twist as new details are being released by Liberty County Sheriff William Bowman. Bowman reported the suspect, who led deputies on a chase on Airport Road in Hinesville, apparently suffered a self-inflicted gunshot to his head. Bowman said when deputies went to remove the man from the vehicle after the accident, they noticed a large amount of blood on his head even though he was wearing a seatbelt. When he arrived at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah via emergency medical helicopter it was discovered the man had suffered a gunshot wound. A weapon was later found inside the Honda Pilot he was operating. Bowman said there was no gunfire exchanged during the chase either by the suspect or deputies.
